Safety is our number one priority on the mountains!

Dusty Roads Tours & Safaris Ltd can organize Kilimanjaro treks on all the standard routes including Marangu route which is the busiest one and the only route which climbers sleep in the huts instead of tents and therefore it makes this route more convenient. The more tranquil routes of Shira, Lemosho and Rongai are more enjoyable and isolated and actually offer the highest chance of reaching the summit. Safety is our number one priority and we make sure that all our clients are well looked after.

Mount Kilimanjaro

Kilimanjaro is the ultimate walking experience. This spectacular inactive volcano is the highest peak in Africa and the highest ‘walkable’ mountain in the world. It towers over the plains of Tanzania and Kenya and is considered the highest freestanding mountain in the world.

Those who reach Uhuru peak can watch the sun rise over Africa and see glaciers only a few degrees south of the equator! A trek up the mountain takes you from steamy rainforest at the foot to snowy peaks at the top, an unforgettable transition.

Walking while viewing down from the snowy summit to the vast plains 5,895m on the highest free standing Mt.Kilimanjaro for the first time it’s truly an interesting and unique wonder.
Kilimanjaro is an awesome spectacle, and climbing it is achievable by anyone who is determined.
The Mountain is accessible throughout the year except April and May due to heavy rains, while the best month are January to March and August to October. There are several routes to the Summit of which, Rongai, Marangu, Lemosho, Londorosi and Machame route are the recommended once.

Mount Meru

Dusty Roads Tours & Safaris can also organise climbs of nearby volcanic mountains Mount Meru and Oldonyo Lengai. People usually eschew a climb of Meru (4,566 metres) in favour of climbing Kilimanjaro, but the incredible beauty and challenge of this three-day climb and the gorgeous view of seeing the sunrise behind Kilimanjaro to the west make it very worthwhile.

The dramatic crater of Mt. Meru is often neglected in favour of nearby to the east, but a visit to this spectacular mountain, located within Arusha National Park, is an unforgettable experience. Its lower slopes are covered in dense highland forest, where colobus monkeys play and buffalo graze concealed beneath the thick foliage. The extinct volcano’s extensive base gives way to a perfectly formed crater, and another internal crater whose walls are sharp, sheer cliffs. An ash cone forms a subsidiary peak, and the Momela Lakes and Ngurdoto Crater are visible from Meru’s slopes.

Mount Oldonyo Lengai

Oldonyo Lengai (3,450 metres) is an active volcano perched on the south shore of Lake Natron. This awesome peak is venerated by the Maasai as the sacred home of God. A near-perfect cone, it erupts occasionally and you might be lucky enough to walk on steaming newborn rock if your timing is good!
