4 Days 3 Nights Trekking
This 4-day Mount Meru trek begins with a pre-trek briefing in Arusha. The ascent starts from Momella Gate through wildlife-rich forest to Miriakamba Hut, then continues to Saddle Hut with an acclimatization hike to Little Meru. A midnight summit push reaches Socialist Peak (4,562 m), offering stunning views of Meru Crater and ash cone. Descent returns to Miriakamba Hut and Momella Gate. Includes all meals on the mountain and transfers, with optional airport pickup.
Day 0
Day 0 – Pre-trek Briefing
If you have opted for optional airport transfers, we will pick you up from Kilimanjaro or Arusha Airport and transfer you to your hotel in Arusha. You should plan to arrive at least one day before the trek starts. Today includes a pre-trek briefing, where we review your equipment and arrange any rental gear needed from a local shop. Overnight at your Arusha hotel
Day 01
Hotel to Momella Gate to Miriakamba Hut
Drive from Arusha to Momella Gate takes about 1.5 hours. After completing gate procedures, begin the trek through areas with breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the Momella lakes. You may encounter wildlife such as bushbucks, Cape buffaloes, giraffes, and warthogs. Continue to Miriakamba Hut. Elevation: 1,500m to 2,500m. Hiking time: 4–5 hours. Meals: Lunch and dinner included.
Day 02
Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut
Trek along a steep path on the saddle ridge, with views of the Meru crater, ash cone, and Little Meru. Possible wildlife sightings include Cape buffaloes and black-and-white colobus monkeys. After settling at Saddle Hut, take a short acclimatization trek to Little Meru (3,810m) before returning. Elevation: 2,500m to 3,500m. Hiking time: 4–5 hours. Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.
Day 03
Saddle Hut to Summit to Miriakamba Hut to Momella Gate
​Wake just after midnight for a light meal, then begin the steep final ascent to Socialist Peak through gravel and rocky cliffs – the most challenging portion. At the summit (4,562m), enjoy views of Meru Crater and the ash cone; you may spot mountain reedbucks and klipspringers. Descend straight down to Miriakamba Hut, then continue to Momella Gate. Elevation: 3,500m up to 4,562m, down to 1,500m. Total distance: 28km. Hiking time: 13–14 hours. Meals: Breakfast and lunch included.
