5 Days 4 Nights Trekking

This 5-day Kilimanjaro trek follows the Marangu Route, starting with a pre-trek briefing in Moshi. The ascent begins through rainforest to Mandara Hut, then continues across moorlands to Horombo Hut, and directly to Kibo Hut without a rest day. A midnight summit push via Gilman's Point leads to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), the highest point in Africa. Descent returns to Horombo Hut and then to Marangu Gate, with a transfer back to Moshi. The itinerary includes all meals on the mountain and transfers, with optional airport pickup

Day 0

Day 0 – Pre-trek Briefing

If you have opted for optional airport transfers, we will pick you up from Kilimanjaro or Arusha Airport and transfer you to your hotel in Moshi. You should plan to arrive at least one day before the trek starts. Today includes a pre-trek briefing, where we review your equipment and arrange any rental gear needed. Overnight at your Moshi hotel.

Day 01

 Hotel to Mandara Hut

After breakfast and briefing, drive about 1 hour to Kilimanjaro National Park Gate, register, and begin the climb. Walk through the rainforest to Mandara Hut, with an optional side trip to Maundi Crater for views of Northern Tanzania and Kenya. Look for towering eucalyptus trees, birdlife, and colobus monkeys. Elevation: 1,860m to 2,700m. Hiking time: 3–4 hours. Meals: Lunch and dinner included.

Day 02

Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut

Leave the rainforest and follow an ascending path across open moorlands to Horombo Hut. Enjoy amazing views of Mawenzi and Kibo summit, and look for giant lobelias and groundsels. You may begin to feel altitude effects. Elevation: 2,700m to 3,700m. Hiking time: 5–6 hours. Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included

Day 03

Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut

Ascend past the last watering point onto the saddle between Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. Vegetation transitions from upper heathland to a "moonscape" desert. Dinner, rest, and prepare for the summit climb. Elevation: 3,700m to 4,700m. Hiking time: 5–6 hours. Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

Day 04

Kibo Hut to Summit to Horombo Hut

Very early (midnight to 2am), begin the steep climb to Gilman's Point on the crater rim, then continue to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) – the highest point in Africa. Enjoy unbelievable views and summit photos. Descend to Kibo Hut for lunch and rest, then continue to Horombo Hut. Elevation: 4,700m up to 5,895m, down to 3,700m. Hiking time: 6–8 hours up, 6–8 hours down. Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

Day 05

Horombo Hut to Moshi

After breakfast, descend steadily through moorland to Mandara Hut, then continue through lush forest to Marangu Gate. At lower elevations, conditions may be wet and muddy – gaiters and trekking poles are helpful. A vehicle will drive you back to your hotel in Moshi (about 1 hour). Elevation: 3,700m to 1,700m. Hiking time: 4–5 hours. Meals: Breakfast included.
